6/7 lipca 1915 – 6/7 lipca 2015:
SETNA ROCZNICA OSTATNIEGO !!! UŻYCIA BRONI CHEMICZNEJ NAD RAWKĄ I BZURĄ NA FRONCIE WSCHODNIM.
TO KNOW IS BETTER THAN DO NOT KNOW.
One of the worst trully happened – unfortunately, not only in the poetic Bolgako but also near the real Bolimow.
The Great War left bitter memories along with various material remains in the area of today’s Central Poland. All these traces constitute a particular Roadside History Lesson, which may offer a chance for us to better understand the People and the Things that surround us.
One of the key risks faced by the relics of the Great War is complex and disturbing phenomenon of the„black archeology” (the illegal search and destructive extraction from the ground mostly military objects, by unauthorized persons interested in their cognitive and aesthetic value and what is most common in monetizing them). CAN IT BE STOPPED?
We can not be sure about it. However we can be sure those relics can be documented, interpreted and re-presented without destroying them.
Implementing the project “Material Remains of the Life and Death in Trenches and the Condition of the Former Eastern Front’s “Gas-scape” in the Region of the Rawka and Bzura Rivers (1914-2014) enables to highlight archaeology’s potential for shaping, on the one hand, the in- depth knowledge pertaining to the recent past; and on the other, the modern archaeological sensitivity and awareness of the Polish people as well as the international community.
Simultaneously, results of the project will possibly support the more active preservation of the diminishing material remains of the dramatic events of the early 20th century, including the opportunity for a decent burial of all those whose remains still lie in the only seemingly nobody’s „no-man’s” land of the former Eastern Front…
